🐻💛🖤 Happy Instructional Coach Appreciation to our very own Mrs. Forbes! 🖤💛🐻
Thank you for being a listening ear, a helping hand, and a constant source of encouragement for our teachers. We are BEARY lucky to have you as part of our Barnett family!
🐻💛🖤 Happy Principal Appreciation Month to Principal Stines! 🖤💛🐻
Once a Bear, Always a Bear! Your leadership helps our Bears grow, thrive, and reach their full potential every day. This month, we celebrate you and all that you do for our Bear family! Thank you for leading with heart and making Barnett stronger!
First, a big THANK YOU to all of our families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conference Day! We appreciate your partnership and look forward to another family event in February!
A few reminders before the long weekend:
📅 NO SCHOOL Monday, October 12! Students return Tuesday.
📚 Progress reports will be available in the Parent Portal on Wednesday, October 14.
🚫 NO GLASS OR METAL BOTTLES! This includes reusable and disposable glass drink bottles (yes, even Calypso Lemonade!), metal water bottles, and tumblers. All refillable water bottles must be clear or see-through.
Please help us keep Barnett safe by checking what your Bear brings to school.
🐻 Bear #89, Backpack, won Fat Bear Week, and Mrs. Flowers’ homeroom correctly picked the winner of our Favorite Bear Week Challenge! A small bear themed treat is headed their way next week.
Apparently, our Bears know their bears. 😂🐻
📅 NEXT UP: Parent-Teacher Conference Day is ONE WEEK AWAY!
If you would like to meet with a teacher, don’t wait to schedule. Conference times are first come, first served.
Everything you need is in this week’s Bear Necessities:
Barnett ǿմý, there are TWO big things we need your attention on this week!
📅 PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES | OCTOBER 9
Scheduling is officially OPEN! ǿմý select their actual conference time, and appointments are first come, first served. Once a time is taken, it’s gone, so please don’t wait if you would like to meet with one of your student’s teachers.
🚨 IF IT DOESN’T BELONG TO YOU, DON’T TAKE IT.
Taking or hiding someone else’s belongings isn’t a joke. Please help us reinforce the importance of respecting other people and their property with your Bear this weekend.
Barnett ǿմý, this is one I really need you to read.
We have seen an increase in some serious student behaviors, and I am asking every family to have a direct conversation with your Bear this weekend.
This week’s Bear Necessities addresses:
📱 Privacy, recording, AI and social media 🚫 Personal boundaries and keeping hands to yourself ⏰ Getting to class on time ⚠️ Understanding that “it was just a joke” does not erase the impact or consequences of a poor choice
Junior high students are going to make mistakes. Our job is to teach, redirect, and help them learn. But some choices can have consequences that extend well beyond the classroom.
I would much rather we have these conversations with our students before a poor decision becomes a consequence that cannot be taken back.
Please read this week’s update and talk with your Bear.
This week's update includes a personal reflection on the 25th anniversary of September 11, along with several important updates for our families.
🎒 FIRST, I need a favor from EVERY Barnett family this weekend: Check your student's backpack!
District Chromebooks are NOT permitted to go home. If you find one at home, please let us know and make sure it returns to Barnett on Monday. Students must turn their Chromebook in to their 7th period teacher every day before leaving campus.
